About Vincent Van Gogh Museum

Vincent Willem van Gogh (March 30, 1853 to July 29, 1890) was a post-impressionist painter whose work, highly influenced 20th-century art. He struggled with mental illness, and remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his life. Van Gogh died in France at age 37.


Vincent van Gogh completed more than 2,100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings and sketches.


The Van Gogh Musuem turns 50 years old this year. It holds the largest collection of his work in the world, and is the 1st most liked museum in Europe, and 2nd in the world.
